- Swedish massage
an essential form of massage integrating a number of the highly customized techniques described, while you are draped in a sheet and blanket.Part of your body is uncovered for massage, and then covered before moving on to other areas. - Deep tissue massage
aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and connective tissueDeep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure is generally more intense. This type of massage is more focused and the therapist works to release “adhesions”—chronic muscle tension or knots.
- Effleurage
a series of long, gliding strokes for a relaxing massage - Petrisage
kneading the muscles to soften and flush out toxins, allowing the therapist to work deeper into the tissue - Cross Fiber Friction
working against the grain of the muscles to release scar tissue, and toxins - Tapotement
rhythmic percussion, administered with the edge of the palm or heel of the hand—a relaxing stroke that is also stimulating and increases blood flow - Vibration
a shaking of the muscles, similar to tapotement, with the same benefits - Trigger Point
pressure is applied during deep breathingYou and the therapist work as a team to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment. Trigger point is not a “Fluff and Buff massage,” but is used to decrease accumulated toxins.
Post/Prenatal
Post and prenatal massage utilizes many of the same techniques used in a regular Therapeutic massage, but with the client lying on her left side with pillows or lying facedown on body cushions. This helps relieve the mental and physical stress of pregnancy and can also aid in relaxation during labor.

Chakra Massage
In traditional East Indian philosophy, chakras are thought of as spinning wheels of energy.
There are 7 chakras that are worked on during a session. Before each session the therapist will make a full assessment in order to determine which chakra needs to be balanced. The therapist uses scents that aid in balancing out a chakra that is imbalanced along with massage and energy work.
During the session the therapist will guide the client to assist in balancing the chakra. This is not a massage in which you’re encouraged to “zone out.” Instead we recommend you utilize this time to tune in and be aware of what is going on within your body and self.
One session – $100
Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a favorite form of massage for those who have experienced it. Shiatsu provides a deep relaxation of both the body and mind. As an added benefit, my sessions are 75 minutes in length so it is an intensely relaxing and calming experience. The benefits and the understanding of how Shiatsu works are not widely known so I put together some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) to help you learn more about this form of massage that is based on an over 3000 year old practice. If you have a question you don’t see on here, please feel free call or email me and I would be happy to explain more.
SHIATSU FAQ’s (Shee-aht-sue)
Q. I am used to Swedish, Deep Tissue, or Sports massages. Does Shiatsu feel as good as these? And will it provide me with what I’m looking for?
YES- Shiatsu is deeply therapeutic, even though it is done differently than other types of massage. It is a highly-effective and supportive massage for those who are athletic, holding tension in the muscles, or even just want a relaxing, soothing experience.
Q. What type of people will benefit from a Shiatsu massage?
Everyone will benefit from a Shiatsu massage, however, I have found that people who suffer from an over active or anxiety ridden mind especially benefit from Shiatsu. Since this form of massage addresses your whole being, it helps to calm a busy mind.
Q. How can it be a great massage if I leave my clothes on??!
There is no draping involved, or oils rubbed into the skin, yet it feels great; the body’s innate healing mechanisms respond to the direct pressing and stimulation of Shiatsu technique. If you have never received a massage before, or may be apprehensive about taking off your clothes to experience massage, Shiatsu will be great for you. Loose or comfortable clothing should be worn to your session.
Q. Why would I want to get a Shiatsu massage?
Shiatsu is like massaging your ENTIRE BEING- your body, your mind, and your spirit. These parts of you are all interconnected, and affect each other when things get out of balance. Shiatsu feels great on the body, with the added benefits of calming the mind and smoothing out the emotions. You will leave feeling very different than you did coming in! PLUS, Shiatsu tends to stick with you- the effects of it can be felt for days after the actual treatment.
Q. What exactly is Shiatsu???!
Shiatsu is a type of massage therapy done on a table. It feels wonderful to receive, as it relaxes and energizes your entire being. Its focus is on stimulating the skin, muscles, and meridians of the body to release tension and blockages in your body, leaving you with a renewed, lasting sense of calm and well-being.
Q. What is a meridian?
Meridians are like rivers of energy that flow throughout the body. Shiatsu massage stimulates and encourages the proper flow of qi (energy) by applying comfortable pressure along these pathways.
Q. Does it hurt? What do you do with your hands?
No, it is not typically a painful type of massage. Deep pressure can be applied, but is not necessary for the body to let go of tension. I use primarily my fingers, thumbs and palms to massage along the meridian pathways. I incorporate other modalities as well, such as MayoFascial Release, and the common Swedish techniques of Tapotement and Vibration.

Reiki
Reiki is gentle, yet powerful, reiki is the name given to an energy that is aware of exactly what you need, flowing to those areas of the mind, emotions, or body that are troubling you. it’s great for helping heal painful, tender areas, as direct contact with the body is not necessary. reiki is non-invasive and will only flow to those who are open to experiencing it… and it usually does! this energy adds a whole new level of peace & calming to one’s session.

Chi Nei Tsang Abdominal Massage (CNT)
We all hold a lot of emotion and tension in our bellies. This can translate into postural characteristics, affect lymph and blood circulation, & cause changes in organ functioning. In Chinese Medicine we believe that all dis-ease originates from unprocessed or overwhelming emotion. In Western Medicine we recognize this as stress making us immune compromised. Our bellies hold our center. We can reestablish and fortify our relationship with ourselves by working our center. CNT helps to reduce tension held in the belly, improves organ function, facilitate processing of emotions, increase flow of lymph & blood. CNT is a type of Qi-gong therapy along the lines of Tai Qi Chuan. The therapist helps you to engage your organs’ vital energies and move stagnations through breathing, guided visualization and use of acupressure, while assisting with abdominal massage. It is a formidable adjunct to other therapies.

Cranio-sacral therapy (CST)
Cranio-sacral therapy is unique in that it works on the fascial tissues, cerebral-spinal fluid and dura mater (fascia that covers the brain and spinal cord). It is an osteopathic technique that draws on the body’s own rhythms in order to encourage healthful change. Using gentle touch the therapist guides tissues toward more optimal structural integrity. Function follows structure. So if one becomes more structurally aligned, one’s parts can function better. This modality has been used to treat brain injury, neuro-muscular disorders, migraines & headaches, orthopedic issues, colic, PTSD, TMJ dysfunction, scoliosis and fibromyalgia.

Bodywork
- Visceral Manipulation/Myo-fascial Release/Positional Release (VM) VM is an osteopathic modality where the practitioner facilitates release of adhered tissues and promotes proper tone by using gentle, precise pressure in the direction the tissue allows for movement. In this way, we’re not fighting the body, but using its own forces to facilitate healing. All life is motion. Without motion there is death. When our tissues experience impaired motion they become dis-eased. Think of an adhesion pulling on tissue in the thoracic cavity. Each time one takes a breath or has a heart beat (rhythmic motion) the adhesion is pulled tighter worsening whatever pain or dysfunction is caused. VM is beneficial in treating metabolic disorders, chronic pain, hormonal conditions, prostatitis, digestive and pelvic disorders.
